Unite against drug

The Committee for Awareness and Resilience against substance abuse, CARE received a boost in their work from Members of the National Assembly (MNA), through a workshop organised at the organisation's headquarters this week.

The involvement of MNAs is vital, as they can intervene at both community and national levels in assisting CARE in their battle against drug abuse.

Seychelles have seen a steady rise in drug-related offenses in recent years and there are concern that more young people are getting involved in drug trafficking.

Workers at CARE have said more state-sponsored intervention programme is needed to curb the rise in drug consumption locally.

SNP's Mont Fleuri MNA Jean-Francois Ferrari challenged the SPPF administration last November to take action to halt the problems in the country.

He appealed for a multi-agency approach to combat the scourge of drug nationally.
