Once again, there is talk of the possibility of an early election in Seychelles. However, the ruling SPPF party is giving no indication that they are willing to advance elections before the scheduled date of July 2011 and July 2012. But several recent developments including the ongoing discussion with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) suggest otherwise.
Political analysts believe the IMF itself maybe in favour of early elections as this will signal political stability over the next three years or so, during which time the economic reform programme will be in full gear. An absolute change in the political landscape could lead to unnecessary disruption.
The districts’ tour President Michel has started could also be a sign that his SPPF party is preparing for elections. The media exposure is serving as a PR exercise for the incumbent head of state. The planned visits to specific economic sectors could serve as an opinion survey to indicate whether the Socialists have sufficient support to prolong their 31 years in power.
If Seychelles indeed go into early elections, it will not be the first time the country faces such event. President Rene called a snap election in 2001, just three years after wining convincingly in 1998.
Dealing with the looming economic situations, will be foremost battle ground between the ruling SPPF party and the main opposition party, SNP.

It's about time we have fresh elections. I don't think the Jj team will keep any of their election's promises, not with the IMF on their toes. It's a sad situation though, because once again they have tricked the unsuspecting Seychellois voters. I hope this was the very last time, the baddies managed to pull such stunt.
Keep it up, Jose. Pa zanmen les tonbe.
